Mr. Hideaki Fukuda was trained under Master Manji Inoue,
living national treasure at Saga prefecture.
 After he mastered the skill of throwing, he entered another school,
Shiga Prefectural Ceramic School to learn about glazes and other techniques.

Then he established a present studio at Shigaraki and has trained
many successors there.

Now Mr. Fukuda is famed for making beautiful dinner wares because of
his high throwing skill and sense of beauty.
All his works combine the tradition and modern tastes.

When you touch his works, it will be very clear to see the sensitivity in his throwing.

He paid attention to balance and line always.


1950 Born in Fukuoka prefecture
1970 Graduated from the course of Graphic art, Japan Design College.
1974 Graduated from Saga Prefectural Ceramic School, Saga prefecture.
1975 Became a potter artist. Built first kiln and studio in Saga.
1982 Moved to Arita, Saga and built second kiln.
1984 Moved to Kanagawa prefecture and established another studio and kiln.
1988 Graduated from Shiga Prefectural Ceramic School, Shigaraki,
  Shiga prefecture.
1990 Started working as a part time lecturer at Shiga Prefectural
  Ceramic School in Shigaraki.
1992 Became a part time lecturer at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Center.
1993 Built a kiln and established a studio "Sohdo" in Shigaraki,
  Shiga prefecture.
