・・・・About Mika's Selection ・・・・
The idea of this web-site came from my culture shock when I returned to my home country, Japan.
I have realized how beautiful Japan is since then even I still miss my life in the U.S.A...
I was fascinated by handmade potteries while I enjoyed walking aroundShigaraki, my new place to live
and one of the most famous potting towns in Japan.
I can say that Japan's aesthetic theory is distinct from others.
The ceramic art in Shigaraki could be a good example.
The ceramics in Shigaraki are typically simple, less decorative, sometime shapeless, roughand not shining.
You may be able to feel "clay flavor" and the atmosphere of dignity and warmth from each piece by
touching in your hand.
It could get through to Japan's aesthetic theory which was developed more than 500 years ago.
・・・・・・・
My selected items combine the tastes of modern and tradition.
All my items are works of trained successors of Shigaraki pottery.
I have fortunately gotten many supports from them to open this web-site.
Now, I proudly introduce you some of the items from treasure boxes in this potting town with reasonable price.
I wish these special items can be close to you.
All items could match your shop, cafe and restaurant well as accents and servings.
Table wares will make foods look more appetizing, and vases will show flower off to advantage.
I also recommend it for daily use at your home as well, of course.
Everything is handmade. Each one is the only one for you!
---For Shop and/or restaurant owners:---

・・・About myself・・・
After living in Houston, Texas for 10years, I moved back to my home country, Japan and started new life at Shiga-pref.
Although my new place was unfamiliar to me, I knew that one of the best known potting towns was nearby.
I had driven and walked all around the small town, Shigaraki for several months.
I visited shops, galleries and artists as many as I could. Every place I visited was like a treasure box for me.
Every handmade pottery was so sensitive and beautiful.
Whenever I visited artists, all of them told me about their philosophy onto their works.
I was always impressed by their passion.
So I became a pottery lover.
Now I found the way to share my loved ceramics with you.
Enjoy all pictures on this web-site, and please send me your comments about them!
